blog post 3.

The Unity –  The merchandiser used this by combining the colors to catch your eyes. One way to catch kids and adults attention is to use something that seems out of the ordinary. By using the “M&M” shape and filling it with candy it’s an eye catcher.

The Harmony – the harmony of the store has bright colors all over which brings your eyes to follow all around the store. They have it set up to where there is enough open space to follow all around without feeling cluttered.

The Balance of the store – The Merchandiser has the store setup with a very comfortable vibe. One thing that is interesting was bringing in the “nascar” or race car into the store, with the logo of “m&m” on it.  It’s more than just a candy store, it even gave parents an enjoyment of walking in. There kids can see all different types of things rather than just chocolate. They have T-shirts on the wall, which you can see from outside the store.

The Repetition – when looking at the display, it’s a constant “M&M” shape with five different colors. It has the same thing going from one side to the other without change.  The only change is the color and the candy that’s filled inside. Other than that the shape remains the same which is easy on the eyes.

The Rhythm – it has a “walk-in” feeling.  They have the music loud enough to catch your attention, and it almost feels like you’ve been in there for a few minutes and those minutes turn into a half hour, or an hour.  It has a very relaxed environment feeling.

The Emphasis – the emphasis of the room has very little stress, It’s a very calming and relaxing to shop around and browse. Little children are usually walking around with smiles, and just want to touch everything.  There is very little glass around the store in children’s reach so it’s a safe and protected environment for kids of all ages.

The Contrast – There are colors all over the wall and with the colors on display,  they balance each other out. It can be dark on one side and light on the other. It’s easy on the eyes because it’s not looking out of place. Light colors with light, and dark with dark.  It almost gives you a feeling as if you know where you want to start and where you should end.

The surprise – the whole store feels like a surprise.  When thinking of just a chocolate store, you expect chocolate to be all over, but not this one.  It’s different in its own way. They could have made it a basic store, but that wouldn’t have caught everyone’s attention. When people are walking around the mall and they see 5 colored M&M’s they will most likely laugh and be almost dragged into the store with curiosity. The store is very appealing. It’s an eye catcher.
