Week 9 Karla Salazar

I am still working on my props, I have applied all the pieces that are made from clay and left to dry. Once the clay dries than I glue the napkins onto them. Once the napkins have dried then I can start painting them and completing them.

I have finished sewing the basics of the dress as showed in the above picture. I have also started to glue the napkin flowers to the top part of the dress. The only thing left to do in order to finish the dress is to finish gluing the flower napkins as the dress is covered completely with them.

Ari Naranchimeg: Blog Post #9

I have finished drafting my corset pattern. Ready to cut out my fabric. I would say it’s about 20% done so far. Sewing my corset doesn’t take that long but making some patterns with ropes on it will take more.

I am still combing ropes for my skirt. I would say I’ve done 60% of my rope skirt so far.

About props for my installation, I am planning to hang colorful decorative strings from the ceiling like a curtain.

My garment is still under major construction. I'm finished cutting out the pattern for the long sleeve crop top. My plans are to fully assemble the a outfit tomorrow after class
I went to the beach today to collect my sea shells. Which at first seemed like a walk in the park, but of course when your looking for something you never find it so easily. It looked as if someone cleaned the beach of all the sea shells. I combed the beach for like 2 hours looking for shells that might work
I found  60-70 shells
While I was looking for shells , I was also looking for materials I could use for accessories and came up with an idea to turn some feathers from the sea gulls or whatever the beach birds are called into an earring. I was excited because I made a super hip dramatic drop earring with hanging shells.i also made a shell bracelet out of  floral wire and some craft string I had laying around.

To conclude my adventure I spotted a lot of dead jelly fish  which I thought this one was cool because its insides where inside out. Which if you didn't know jelly fish can still sting you even if they are dead #mentalnote

I'm actually falling in Love with my garment. I feel like it's giving off an Egyptian vibe. I still have to continue sewing me garment & start on my props. For my props I still have to make my gold pyramids and connect the chains at the top to give them that ancient feel.
