TuMi Duong Post 8

The first image is of the patterns that I made for the skirt part of the dress.  I am cutting the muslin for it.  The second image of the yellow fabric is of the lining of my dress.  I want that fabric to be thick so I use satin instead of regular lining fabric.  The third image is of the the skirt part of the dress that I had sewn together.  The bodice will be added to the skirt, and the dress will be all set to add the paper plates.

This mannequin is ideal for The Club, which is an upscale exercise shop. This mannequin is realistic and shows an ideal mans body. This is important for this store because their target market is looking to achieve this ideal body. The mannequin is a natural fit for this stores brand image, it communicates to their customer that they too could achieve this ideal when they shop at their store.

This is an appropriate mannequin for the tween trendy clothing chain called Tween Scene. I chose this particular mannequin because is was stylized and not realistic. This will help the store display their fast fashion without zoning in on one particular ethnicity. The pose is fun will add to the energetic tweens that they are selling to, and it will fit into their brand image.

My dress is almost done!! I can't wait to see it when it's finish. I sew my dress out of Muslim but i still need the finishing touches. After that it will be time to attach the bra straps to the dress. It shouldn't take that much longer to have the dress all ready and start thinking about accessories. :-)

TuMi Duong Post 7

CEO- I feel that this mannequin fits with the brand image for this store because this store specializes in menswear.  They sell high quality suites, shoes, belts, leather goods, ties and such, and so this mannequin shows a manly and sleek look.  The mannequin is just simply standing straight carrying a suitcase which reminds me of business men, and I feel that this store definitely target business men or at men that has a high status.

Tween Scene- These mannequin below definitely fits with the age group of 9-13 that this store target.  At this age, they are still kids but getting to the teen age so they can be very carefree still, or very rebellious.  The way that these mannequin posed showed me a very carefree style, yet with all mess around theme, it portrayed a rebellious side.  Sine this store sells trendy clothes for kids, these mannequin would surely established their brand image.

TuMi Duong- Pier 1 Imports

The home fashion store that I visited was Pier 1 Imports.
1: There isn't any high signage or graphics to guide the customer to this wall.
2: The theme of this wall was decorative lamps and vases.
3:  The products that are showcase are decorative lamps and colorful vases in many different sizes and shapes and textures.
4: The fixtures are a library style.
5: There really isn't a color story to this wall.

It has been a very productive week. I have been working on many different parts of my bottle cap dress. Drilling the four holes into each of the bottle caps and painting them are two projects that I have started. The biggest accomplishment has been the almost completed shell of the dress. Looking forward to attaching the bodice to the skirt and putting in the zipper tomorrow in class.

1.  The graphic pictures on the top of the walls direct you towards this particular brand of candles.

2.  This wall is about scented candles, but the theme seems to be different paradise or islands, which is appropriate for the summer season, due to customers wanting to experience the tropical island feeling.

3.  Scented candles and scented candle accessories from the Yankee candle brand are the products showcased on this wall.

4. There are metal shelves, and there is sinage and pricing.

5.  Yes in each one of the separate areas of the Yankee candle wall, it seams that the candles match the island feeling.  they use a lot of greens, blues, earth tones, dusty colors like sand, and some jewel tones, sun sets colors.  The names of the candles most likely match the inpriration for the candles.

This fixture is  a library style wall display from Pier One. When I entered the store I immediately noticed high banners that guided me to the wall. Most all of these banners were sale and clearance signs. One can aslo see a small sale banner attached to this wall display. The theme of this wall is that everything is airmatic. Candles, sprays and oils are all things that will  fragrant one's home. The color story is attractive, for the colors are in a ROYGBIV order.

For my dress materials I will be using bras traps. I want to stay if possible with just two colors that will be white and pink. I already have the sketch for the dress and I'm very exited to see who is going to turn out.

This window display it is sure to get everyone's attention. It has a dark red background color and neon lights to accentuate the display. In my opinion this window display was made for the month of February maybe for valentine's day. It has a short and cute phrase in the center and the heart neckless to the right. I also like the fact that since its a really nice window display customers will probably stop and look to see what the display is about.

TuMi : Paper Plates

For my project in Visual Merchandising I will use paper plates.  The original colors that I wanted to use was green and pink, but since I do not have enough green plates, I will change my colors to yellow and light pink as shown on the pictures below.  The yellow will be the color of my dress, and the light pink will be bows on the dress.  Can't wait to see how it will turn out!

I have been busy collecting the materials that I will need to construct my bottle cap dress and the accompanying props. I already have, for what I believe is enough bottle caps to finish my dress. Thank you to all of my friends at Rusty's that help me acquire so many bottle caps. As for the aluminum cans, I definitely need to collect more. Yet, I have a few weeks since I plan on constructing my garment first. Not only have I been gathering caps and cans, but trying to figure out the best way to connect the bottle caps. So far I have tried using wire that I cut into equal strips and tied the caps together, after drilling four holes into them. I was not happy with the flexibility factor, so this week I tried using a chain. As the picture shows, it creates a great uniformity and it is flexible, but I was hoping to have the bottle caps closer. Next, I plan on using fishing line to connect the caps with the hopes of the best outcome so far.

This outfit is for a fun summer day on the weekend. The top is a great pop of color, and its puffed shoulders make a confident statement. I paired it will a classic cut white shorts to keep a fresh feel. The accessories are all black and white including the shoes. The shoes are adorned with flowers on top which continue the summer theme. All of the accessories also carry  geometric shapes which carry well with the structure on the shirt.
