The largest issue I had was drafting the skirt for this garment. I had to redo this three times in order to get the shape i was looking for. I also had issues with the butterflys i wanted on the garment. I ordered them from a website in china, only to find out that they ship them from guatemala and i wouldn't get them until late may. I had to redesign the dress in a new way and I was very pleased with the way things turned out.

BeTween
Scene was founded in LA. Opened their store on Novembers of
2005 giving the opportunity for tween to create their own style and be
fashionable together. Therefore I believe that the Hindsgual mannequins are highly adequate for
the Tween Scene store boutique’s image due to their natural and so detailed
human looking that children and teens will
identify more with it making it easier to see themselves already wearing the
clothes that’s being displayed.
Also for sagebrush would bring live to the clothes.Wednesday, April 23, 2014

A sneak peak!
This dress consist of a table cloth and table mats, the top is halter top style with a skirt that's zips on the side. The longer part of skirt is held together with a button. The back is left open and we accessorized with a leaf belt in the front.
Alexis McCormick Blog Post 10
The closure of our garment is a zipper and button on the side of the skirt. It is not visible because we put the table cloth up and over the skirt to create the bustle. Also the top is a halter style that ties. The front of the dress has leaves covering the other button closer that keeps the draping of the bustle closed.
Katelyn Huffman
This is the front view. The back
view is the same as the front view, there are no actual closeures. The skirt is a little big on her in the waist but it stays on,because there was a problem with the elastic, but a few safety pins should do the trick.

This first picture shows the different types of paper products that we collected to make the flowers. We are working to manipulate the lemon wraps and coffee filters into the perfect flowers. An issue we are having is that the lace of the dress is white and the paper products may not stick out. We are debating if we want to dye the products in order to give them some color. Also some of the blue flowers we are using are too large for our over-all look.
These are the materials we are using for the dress. Lindsay was able to obtain this table doily. The Muslin from our clothing construction class will be used underneath so the garment is not see-though. With the muslin we found white doily placemats to attach to it that keeps it uniform. We have to serge the dress which we did not anticipate, but will not be a problem. In order to get the outfit completed by week 10 we need to serge, and also create the top portion, which we have been debating between two styles.

This dress is solely made of trash bags. As you can see it is not finished yet. I had problems with coordinating my time with my model. I have changed the dress from what I initially had. So far I enjoyed making the dress.

Global Shop 2014

Blog post 8- Lexi
For my visual display I am making flowers from egg cartons and butterflies from milk cartons. It wasn't hard to make, but waiting to collect all the materials took a while. After glueing the flowers together, I painted them with acrylic orange and yellow paint. To make the butterflies I printed out an outline of a butterfly and trace & colored over it with permanent markers.
The struggle with this garment is the actual construction on the dress. I honestly don't have much experience in sewing since I'm more of a craft person. Along with this project I had a workload of homework from other classes and not enough time. But I took the next few days off of work to dedicate myself to this garment and will be staying with my model to make sure the garment is adjusted to her measurements and to get the garment done by week 10. It's a struggle but I love the challenge and experience.

Photos/ In- Progress
My vision with this dress is to create a feeling of a spring tea party in the garden. I am constantly altering my master plan to create a more elegant design. Not spending a dime on these products. The blue flowers were created with scraps of construction paper, the cupcake and coffee filters were found in house. Which also will be transformed into flowers. The lemon wraps and doily's I found at work, of course I asked first. Which will give the dress a nice textured look with the different types of paper product flowers. In this photo I have a white table cloth with plastic white place mat, which originally replaced the net idea I had to attach the flowers to. I felt this was more of the direction I was heading. I plan to use the muslin as a slip to cover the body. The table cloth to drape down her body with the plastic place mat wrapping around her top. I want to make a head band of the baby's breath, and stick the peacock feather in the hair or near the waistline.

I star cutting 5,000 straws and I would keep every single piece in order to manipulate different sizes and chapes to create my dress. My goal with this dress it's to create a really fresh and fun dress.

For the visual merchandising project so far my progress Is completion of the top. I have also dyed the fabric. After purchasing the skirt and dying the fabric I am now ready to cut and sew the skirt. The last step will be the flowers.

I am currently in the process of finishing the paper flowers that will be attached to the muslin. When I first started making the flowers I did have difficulty making them come out the way I wanted them to, but I was able to finally make them right. Once I finish the flowers I will sew the muslin together from my chosen pattern and then dye the fabric a light green color so if there is any part that of the flowers that show though the green will show and still give it some color instead of just the white muslin. Once the muslin is colored I will attach the flowers.

I chose to go with the CEO target market and I chose this mannequin because I feel it's gesture is strong and profond as most CEO's tend to be. I also feel that the broadness of this mannequin is ment to fill out the suit and showoff how well made it is. The purfact that this mannequin does not have a head nor an obvious pole erecting from the back to the stand make this look more clean and expensive.

I chose to go with the "Club enthusiast" I chose these mannequins because They are clearly advertising "action" and this shows the customer how the garments could look on the client when in "action" I feel i find many highend active lifestlye retailers use these mannequins to help sell the full package.

I choose these mannequins for the CEO menswear apparel. The pose of the mannequins are effortlessly showing of the product. I could see mannequins in a high end store selling high-quality suits, shoes, and leather goods.

This photo displays mannequins that you would find in a upscale exercise enthusiast shop. In this picture they appear to be more athletic looking, pronouncing there muscles. The pose is simple yet by looking at the mannequin you can tell they live an active lifestyle.
